About JMI
I’m Jean-Manuel Izaret, but I go by my initials JMI to keep things simple and easy to say. I’ve worked at BCG for over 20 years and currently lead the firm’s global Marketing, Sales & Pricing practice.
As you can probably tell from this website, I am passionate about new ideas and believe that creative solutions and human ingenuity can solve all problems, including global warming and world hunger.
After starting my career in Europe on various cost-cutting efforts, I moved to San Francisco in 1999 and started to focus exclusively on growth and helping companies create jobs. I specialized in customer analytics, pricing, and revenue management, but my experience as a fellow with the Bruce Henderson Institute opened my eyes to the broader impact of pricing. Research topics include pricing fairness, price discrimination and pricing of CO2 emissions.
The field of pricing never stands still and its power continues to shape people’s professional and personal lives in new ways. To capture current issues and add more fuel to the pricing conversation, I launched a LinkedIn newsletter based on the Game Changer book in 2023.
I have published articles and papers in a number of business and academic journals, including Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. The topics have ranged from pricing fairness to the role of pricing in sustainability to the reasons why non-profit organizations should implement prices.
For over 15 years I have co-authored perspectives and articles which appear on the BCG.com website. These perspectives go beyond pricing and also cover key topics in marketing and sales. Some of these articles were foundational in developing the pricing games and advancing my own thinking on topics such as pricing fairness, price discrimination, and pricing for CO2 emissions.
It helps to look around and read or see what others are doing to advance the field of pricing and understand its far-reaching impact. I provide links to some websites that keep the conversation going, put new ideas forward, or serve as great resources.
